My name is Van Renier and I currently live in Orlando, Florida. My birthday is October 18, 1970 and I was born on Merritt Island in the Cape Canaveral Hospital (which, given its name, oddly enough resides on Merritt
Island.) I lived in Merritt Island until 1978 around December when we moved to the Canal Zone, Panama. We lived at Ft. Clayton for 2 years. I still have a t-shirt telling Jimmy Carter what the
Canal "Zonians". thought of him when he gave the "Zone" back to the Panamanians. My Mother and Father brought back two yellow-headed amazon parrots, Chica (female) and Macho(male), only to find out later
that Chica was Chico (male as well). The family also brought back a mutt named POCO.. (which reminds me.... I better put some photos of him up here!) Poco was half golden retriever and half irish setter. A great dog!
Poco passed away on February 19, 1993 at the age of 13. In 1980, we moved back to Florida, only to move away again in 84 to Riverside California, where we stayed for 3 years. (yeah, I'm
cutting this short) 1987 found the Reniers back in Merritt Island again, and I graduated from M.I.H.S. with the class of 1988 (although it was close.) After Graduating I joined the Army on Nov.3,
1988, and was honorably discharged on Nov.2, 1993. For the most part, I loved the Army, But after being out, I'm glad I did get out. |
